My name is Shamaun, and I’m 17 years old. I along with my whole family work at a brick kiln (stone factory) as debt bounded. I did not have an opportunity to go to school and so anyone else in my family. At the brick kiln (stone factory) the financial record is maintained by the accountant (Munshi) and he is responsible to update our debt record on the register. But I did not know how to read and write and was unable to verify the recorded data. But PLP Adult Education Program helped me learn basic Math and Language. And now I can calculate my wages and can cross check our debt records. I feel confident and empowered now.
